I also enjoyed the podcast. I had read about the Bezos buy. Interesting to see how it all plays out. I often think back to when Amazon first popped up on the scene. It really affected my book buying and now it has set me free as an author. Good job!

Very keen observation Jeff. And, I agree. Yes, there is a brand here … and assets … but the real value is in the content.

In reply to MrTonyDowling. The way I look at it, excellent content is going to find a way to win on the web. Newspapers are supposed to provide great content, right? So they should be in a position to win ... IF they can make the cultural transition, which is very difficult. I think Bezos is going to shatter the mold and pave a path for all newspapers to follow. Not because I hadn't thought about it ( I have: http://answerguy.com/2013/08/07/jeff-bezos-influency-future-of-journalism/ ), but because when put in context as you did I realized that it's really the ONLY point. Bezos is saying that Content Marketing is … EVERYTHING.

Hey Mark! You might guess, but I found this podcast utterly mesmerising 🙂

Thanks to you and Tom for sharing your thoughts on this highly interesting development, its really made me think about a ton more about the implications

I’ve read quite a lot lately about how the whole newspaper business is starting to maybe climb back up the curve a little? Gain a bit of confidence perhaps? Seems ludicrous I know, but developments like Jeff Bezos purchase are part of it.

And its certainly about monetising the fantastic brands we have both sides of the Atlantic in the printed media world. They have to be valuable in some way don’t they?

And a great thought about the digital titans moving into the traditional world! VERY exciting stuff!
